Audio Output Setup

Click the Audio tab in the System Settings window.

If the window isn't automatically opened when you start FL Studio, you can launch it by selecting Audio Settings in the Options menu. Press F10.

In the Output panel there is a combo box with a list of available audio devices on your system. FL Studio supports ASIO and DirectSound standards.

It is recommended that you use ASIO driver if one is available for your sound card (the name has 'ASIO' in it), as this usually leads to better performance compared to DirectSound drivers.

If you want to select a DirectSound driver (the name starts with "(DS)"), avoid drivers which have "(emulated)" in the name. Using such driver leads to worse performance compared to a native DirectSound driver.

If you plan to use FL Studio together with another application that uses audio, it is recommended that you check the Auto Close Device check box. When you have that option turned on FL Studio releases the wave output device when it loses focus, so other applications may use it.

NOTE: Select ASIO drivers if available for your sound card.

Your 'Output' options may be different, they depend on your brand of soundcard and loaded drivers. Not all cards have ASIO driver options.
