The Playlists contains two sets of tracks, Pattern
tracks at the top and audio/automation clip tracks at the
bottom. Each Pattern track (6) represents one pattern. The names of
the patterns are displayed on the left side of the Playlist (right
click a name to change it).
Main automation: By default pattern 9 is named
'Main automation' and is a standard location in which to store
Automation Events. Note
that pattern 9 is simply a renamed, and normal, Pattern track and
so can be used for pattern data if desired. Automation Events may also be
srored in any other Pattern track as usual.
Multiple patterns can be run simultaneously,
however, be aware that if patterns share the same instrument
channels there may be note conflicts, particularly in the case of
monophonic instruments such as the TS404.
To place a pattern left-click its track while
in draw (
) or paint (
) mode. Paint mode allows you to repeat pattern
placement by dragging horizontally in the Playlist.
Drag patterns by left-clicking and dragging the
pattern (or selected patterns) horizontally. You can not, however,
adjust the pattern length in the Playlist, this controlled by the
length of the note data (ster-sequencer or Piano roll) or automation event data in the pattern.
Snap settings (
) control how patterns move against the background
grid. Set this to 'line' if you want the patterns
to snap to bar boundaries, 'None' if you want to
freely positon patterns.
Overlapping patterns is permitted, but please
note that only one instance of each pattern can play at a given
moment (i.e. each new bar 'cuts' the playback of the previous bar
for the same pattern.
To erase a pattern, right-click it or use the
left mouse button in erase (
) mode.
